Gum
Disease: Why Everyone Needs to be Concerned.
It is more then
“just a little pink in the sink”. Most people are
aware that bleeding gums can eventually lead to gum
recession, loose teeth and tooth loss. But, not
everyone is aware that, based on work done at
Columbia and other research centers, gum disease is
now being linked to heart disease, heart attack,
stroke, diabetes, pancreatic cancer, alzheimer’s
disease, hair loss, and complications during
pregnancy. You are twice as likely to have a heart
attack if you have periodontal disease. If you have
a heart attack, you are twice as likely to die if
you have periodontal disease. You are at eight times
greater risk for a pre-term, low weight baby if you
have periodontal disease. If you are not flossing
regularly we can help you.
Some recent articles appearing in major newspapers
that warn of the consequences of gum disease are as
follows:
- Poor Gums Take
Big Bite Out of Health, FORBES February 24,2006
- Sound mouth,
healthy body, THE PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, Nov.21,
2005
- Dental health:

- Infected Gums

- Besides tooth
loss, periodontal problems have been linked to

So, if you believe
in a holistic approach to health care it is vitally
important to have healthy gums.
Gum Disease Treatments
Breakthroughs in research and innovations in
technology have enabled us to detect and
non-surgically treat gum disease better than ever
before. Patients deeply appreciate forgoing the
“scalpels and stitches” associated with conventional
periodontal surgery.
Lasers,
anti-microbial medicaments, and ingenious
chemotherapeutic delivery systems allow patients to
avoid surgery while optimizing their oral health and
therefore their overall health.
